The whole world has united for this cause!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the sake of sustainable development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the environment. For the sake of people to live longer and better lives without rising temperatures. Without emergencies. Without natural disasters and anomalies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only form of unity Russia is capable of \u2026is to annex scorched land areas to its empire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The terrorist country destroys what it cannot build. And this does not align with the principles of the democratic world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Millions of people have suffered from the blowing up of the Kakhovka dam by Russians. Every day Ukraine suffers from Russian nuclear terror. Russia has deployed military equipment and personnel at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. This poses a threat to the nuclear security of the entire continent.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly, there are still people in the world who believe in Russian propaganda. Those who equate Russia and Ukraine, the aggressor and its victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ukraine is not only stopping Russian aggression. We are working to hold the terrorists accountable. <strong>We have already documented over 2,500 environmental crimes. The assessed damage is estimated at over 51.3 billion euros.<\/strong> The war has generated 120 million tons of additional greenhouse gases emissions directly and indirectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of Russia&#8217;s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the world is now 120 million tons of CO2 further away from meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;If we convert these emissions into monetary value (taking into account the cost of one ton in the EU Emissions Trading System market), it will result in a significant amount of 10.2 billion euros.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is half of the capital investment needed for the complete reconstruction of Ukraine&#8217;s water resource management and redistribution system over the next 10 years. The whole Ukraine! With its largest area in Europe and challenging climatic conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This amount is only a small fraction of the overall global climate losses for which the aggressor country must be held responsible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone knows the &#8220;Polluter pays&#8221; principle. Let&#8217;s introduce the &#8220;Aggressor pays\u201d principle. I understand that the war in Ukraine is not the last in history. But if the aggressor has to pay, there is a chance that everyone will understand that the war is expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>War means daily losses. Our ecosystems are changing and being destroyed. Endemic species are dying. Due to the blowing up of the Kakhovka dam by Russians, the bread-basket of Europe may turn into a desert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Ukraine has not abandoned its ambitious goals. We have not renounced our international commitments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We are <strong>implementing EU directives into our legislation.<\/strong><\/li><li>In 2021, we launched <strong>a monitoring and verification system for greenhouse gas emissions.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>We aim to reduce our Nationally Determined Contribution<\/strong> <strong>by 65%<\/strong> by 2030. We will review our target in 2025 to set an even MORE ambitious goal.<\/li><li>We are preparing to implement <strong>an emissions trading system<\/strong>. We started to work on it in 2021. Ukraine HAS the potential. We are READY to cooperate with partners under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
